According to Sun's page http://training.sun.com/CA/certification/java/java_busj23e.html
the only pre-req for SCBCD exam is SCJP.
Just wanted to verify with you folks too.
Please verify.

And if that's the case, is the book HF EJB by Kathy et. al. a good study guide on this?

Yes the only pre-req is SCJP and Kathy's book is very good
