Hi All,

I need some advice.
How should one go about preparing for the SCBCD? I have experience with EJB2.0. I have previously also studied Richard Monson's book and the weblogic workbook about 1.5 years ago. Since then I have been out of touch and need to revise. I felt that as long as I do some study it is better I also get a certificate because all said and done a certification makes sure your basics are very robust. Whatever be the reasons I wish to do the EJB certification and do a better job of it than what I did with my SCJP certification (I scored there only 88% but I could have done better).

I need some help in the form of advice.
How long should I prepare? Let us play safe and assume I dont know anything (although thts not true I hope)
Is the Head First EJB book sufficient?
What else should I read other than whats advised in the book?
While doing my SCJP prepasration I came across this guy "Jigar" who was able to score 100% even though he did not write any code and just studied the books, and did the mock tests.
His technique is memtioned here.

Of course he did work very hard and he had a strong OOP background.
Can one prepare in the same manner for the SCBCD test?

Any advice is welcome.
Thank u.

Hi Swamy,

I'd like to share my experience in preparation to this exam. I started in March and did the exam last week (you can find my results in Java Certification Results forum ) I tried to study for at least 30-60 minutes a day. Also, my work involves developing and supporting a product that is build on J2EE technology (Servlets + EJBs).

That is what I did:

1. Read "Head First EJB" and took notes. If something was unclear used ejb 2.0 spec and if still had a problem posted questions here. Also tried to answer questions on this forum and on EJB forum

2. After completed reading the book went through my notes and did all chapter mock exams again.

3. Then on ejbcertificate.com:
- answered questions for each chapter
- did a few mock up exams

4. Two days before the exam did a final mock up exam at the end of "Head First EJB"

5. Did the exam

Good luck with your preparation and the actual exam!

Trust me this is the best way to go through the exam prepration.
I did scjp 1.2 and did the same thing..

Now i am preparing for SCBCD(my friends call it ABCD)...and doign the same thing.

Going thru First Head EJB.
Giving mock tests at the end of each chapter
Going through this forum and tyring to answer questions.
ofcourse going through specs once in a while is useful

You can find plenty of useful resources on our SCBCD Links page.

Good luck
