Searched on IBM site and it says

"Collections of entity beans are identified in EJB queries through use of their abstract schema name in the query FROM clause".

It means in EJB-QL we use Abstract schema names.For details i think you need to study EJB-QL Language(new Feature in EJB2.0)

It tells the container how to manage bean's persistence,including both persistent fields and persistent relationships.U can use this name in EJB QL
