It looks like everybody is taking SCWCD first, then head to SCBCD.
Is there any reason for this order? Is it because of you need to know the stuff in SCWCD, in order to understand the stuff in SCBCD?
I am just curious. Anybody take SCBCD first?

Nope, the only pre-req for doing SCBCD is to be a SCJP (any version). You could take SCBCD without knowing anything about JSP or servlets.

The reason for me taking SCWCD first was that I knew more of (Servlets & JSP) than I knew of EJBs. And my work had more direct contact with servlets & JSP as well.

I guess I could have taken SCBCD first with the help of HF EJB, but I felt that I should clear SCWCD first, no particularly significant reasoning though.

Thanks a lot. That's really good to know.
I have HF EJB on my hand now. I've placed an order for the HF Servlet/JSP, but it will take 2 weeks to arrive.
Maybe I will go with HF EJB first.
Thanks again.

Hi Jessica
I have taken BCD before WCD because I was waiting for HF S&J to be released. But unless you have experience in EJB or there is any other compelling reason to take BCD first, I would suggest you to take WCD first. The reason is that BCD has more abastract ideas than that of WCD. Also, Servlets and JSP (covered in WCD) are much much more commonly used in industry than that of EJBs(covered in BCD)

But if you have started studying for BCD then don't look right and left and keep it up. There is nothing from WCD that you would need for BCD.

Hope this helps and good luck with your preparation.

Hi, Alfred:

Thanks for your input. No, I donot have any particular reason to take SCBCD first. My plan is to take SCWCD and SCBCD in the next 5-6 months time. I have Java experience but not much JSP or EJB. I guess I should start with SCWCD first, like everybody else did. While waiting for the HF JSP book to arrive, I could start with some online tutorials first.

Thanks a lot!
