In order to take a balance, I would give the following comments.

If you want to prepare now, please do prepare for the fundamentals of J2SE, J2EE and J2ME. You need to know the high level details, but I guess it does not require too technical understanding.

You have to know OOAD and UML as well.

I hope this wont violates any legal issues. If I do, please remove my post.

I am confused with the web link http://ca.sun.com/training/certification/java/associate_beta.xml it says Unlike other Sun Microsystems exams, this beta exam does not require a voucher.

I thought all those who participated in the survey conducted way back in March, will be getting a voucher in the email.
Any ideas/ thoughts ?

Might be this exam is free to everyone who want to take, and thus, it does not require any vouchers, and you can register for the exam directly.

I suggest openning a new specialized forum for the Java Associate Exam.
Although there are many things in common between the new exam and the Programmer Exam (and other exams), separating the forums will help focusing on the objectives. What do you see?

It sounds like the new forum you suggest is coming soon.
