hi all,

When message driven beans have the acknowledgement mode set as <acknowledge-mode>Dups-ok-acknowledge</acknowledge-mode>, does this mean that there is a risk of duplicate messages been received by the BEAN because the messaging service expects to receive an acknowledgement within a specified period?

Please correct my misconceptions if I have made any by asking this question.

Hi Eddie

With Dups-ok-acknowledge, it means that it is OK if the container is slow in sending acknowledgement to the messaging service. The container takes time in sending acknowledgement and there is a risk of duplicate messages because the messaging service didn't get acknowledgement in time.

Thanks

your answer is the text straight out of HFE but what does it mean?
to me, it sounds like duplicate messages from the container to the messaging service! if this is the case then it doesn't make sense since the container is in charge of sending messages and the acknowledgement so it should know what messaging service has/hasn't received an acknowledgement. Furthermore, it means the container should know better than to send duplicate messages.

maybe i just don't understand how the acknowledgement works, please clarify
