Hello Paul, I would like you can answear me if I can developer EJB without tools, I mean, I can write my EJB, compile it, and deploy it in any EJB Container? O they require some extra configuration depend the EJB Container (o J2EE Server) I use?

Best Regard.
Carlos.

Basically, you don't require any tools to develop EJB, you can even use Notepad to write the interfaces and beans, compile it via your own ANT scrips or "well-configured" DOS environment, write DD (deployment descriptor) via Notepad and pack the EAR file using JAR utility.

However, you will find this very painful because DD for different vendors could be different, as well as the deployment procedures. Thus, it is better to use the vendor specific development and deployment tools as they are customized for their own environemnt and you don't have additional effort for the development.
