Hi friends,

This is my first mail to SCBCD forum. I saw that the current SCBCD exam is 1.3 versioned. Is SCBCD 1.4 coming up shortly? Should i wait for 1.4?

Please advice.

Regards,
Navanee

I haven't heard any rumors of a 1.4 exam. (The 1.4 exam for SCWCD has been out for a while already). The next version of J2EE, with regards to EJB, is going to be a big one. So, Sun may be waiting until J2EE 5.0 (or whatever they're calling it) comes out.

So I prefer to don't take SCBCD exam because it won't update for long time, Now I(you too) see most companies use other technology instead of EntityBean or simply not Entitybean(Because I don't have deep knowledge on other related technologies I prefer to don't discuss it, meanwhile I know SB and MDB are very usefull not like EB)but appropriatly 1/3 of this exam is about EB ,I prefer to take other usefull exam like SCWCD or SCJWSD and spend my time to learn usefull related technologies like Hibernate and of course wait for EJB3 exam.

What can you tell us about that bert? About the use of EB? Is it not used in real life?

Hi there.

I found this thread because I am currently working through Bert's book (Head First EJB) and am on pg. 28 where I am instructed to download the J2EE 1.3 RI from java.sun.com/j2ee but I only see links to J2EE 1.4 there, which the book specifically instructs me not to work with--and as this thread informs us, is not appropriate for the study of the current exam.

I've worked with EJBs and on J2EE app servers but am interested in taking the exam, so I'd like to learn the right stuff if possible!

Could Bert or anyone else please let me know where to find the appropriate J2EE RI, or am I stuck in a paradox time warp, and out of luck?

Thanks all
Eric

The download link is on this page
Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) - Version 1.3.1 Release
Look for the Download icon under Download the Software for the Java 2 SDK, Enterprise Edition 1.3.1.

Don't forget to grab the EJB 2.0 Spec.

This is the third time in a month that I've been posting it in this forum - you'd think I'd get tired of it.

Thaaaaank you Peer! I probably should've looked a little harder, but I saw Bert's name in the thread and fell prey to a sudden case of "hey, I paid for your book and darnit, it's got a 'hard-coded' link that doesn't work".
