Ensuring that the target enterprise method is type-compatible with the declared EJB reference.

In above statement what is enterprise method means? Could some one can explain?

Context?

What is the source of this wisdom?

Target enterprise method is not a phrase that the EJB 2.0 specification uses. Google tells me that ejbcertificate.com is responsible for that phrase. The specification however uses target enterprise bean.

Now Google also tells me that this is an answer for questions regarding role responsibilities. Well this is what the specification has to say:

(page 419)
20.3.2 Application Assemblers responsibilities
The Application Assembler must ensure that the target enterprise bean is type-compatible with the declared EJB reference. This means that the target enterprise bean must be of the type indicated in the ejb-ref-type element, and that the home and component interfaces of the target enterprise bean must be Java type-compatible with the interfaces declared in the EJB reference.

(page 420)
20.3.3 Deployers responsibility
The Deployer must ensure that the target enterprise bean is type-compatible with the types declared for the EJB reference. This means that the target enterprise bean must of the type indicated in the ejb-ref-type element, and that the home and component interfaces of the target enterprise bean must be Java type-compatible with the home and component interfaces declared in the EJB reference.

Now, good mock exam questions would give you the relevant references in the specification (and probably use the correct terminology - makes it less confusing that way).
