What do you expect in less than 4 hours? Patience Is A Virtue.

Or maybe people are put off by your use of question marks and exclamation marks.

I was also wondering the same thing.
I was hoping they would jump from 1.3 to 1.5 so EJB 3.0 stuff is included as so much has improved from 1.3.
Has anyone heard anything about it?
Do you think that asking sun may help? In fact im going to do it and if i get a reply i'll post it here.

Take care all

Yes Patrick,
You are right. This has to be clarified before starting preparation for SCBCD. In HF EJB, its mentioned that SCBCD 1.4 would probably be out in late 2004, when sufficient number of companies start using j2ee 1.4.
Its been over a year since that deadline. Could anyone close enough to Bert please clarify!!

Shankar

Thanx Mat,

I still feel a bit unsafe to start preparation for SCBCD1.3. May be anyone about to start preparation for SCBCD afresh could may be wait for a while and concentrate on other exams in the meantime. I ceratinly dont want to upgrade my certifications atleast for 3 yrs. So i'll get cracking for SCWCD next!!

Cheers,
Shankar

Hi,
Even i want to start for SCBCD1.3 exam. Is it good to start now, else shall i wait for SCBCD1.4 exam. For SCBCD1.4 as mock up exams are availble in google or not or else it is better to go for a exam simulator. Bcoz for SCJP there are lots and lots of mockups and for SCWCD there are very few that is not more than 5 to 6.
Please suggest me whether we have to go for any simulators or not.
Is the Head First EJB book enough for the exam preparation or else we have to refere any other books also.

Cheers,
Parvathi.

The latest info we have from Sun is that the earliest a new exam will come out will be around September of 2006. At that point, the current exam will still be available for a long time, and we expect that most companies that are using the current version of EJBs aren't going to jump right into the new version quickly. The summary is that, realistically, from a job search perspective, the current exam will be the most useful for quite a while.

Of course that begs the question "Should you really be studying technologies like Hibernate and Spring?" but that's a whole 'nuther conversation

Bert, your news surprise me
Is that Sun's info already fixed or still able to change in the future?

I dont expect the new exam will come out this year I've already made plan to get 1.3 around may/june instead of SCWCD

Advise me!!

Actually i did programming in business objects first. so, then in web side. i feel better in bcd than wcd. so, i thought of taking bcd first then wcd. now, this exam upgration makes me to think. will it better to go for scwcd1.4 first then for scbcd1.4 .so, by the time i am ready for bcd exam, upgradation would have released and take the upgraded one. planning to do prepare for 3 months atleast. may take the exam watever (scwcd/scbcd) by june or later.

If you people give me any hopes for upgration exam soon, i will go for scwcd or i will go for scbcd now itself. answer me.

Hi All,

I recently completed my SCWCD and am planning to start preparation for SCBCD, but when I came to this forum got a bit worried abt the version of the exam 1.3 or 1.4, my questions to writers of HF
1) Does the HF EJB cover SCBCD1.4 or 1.3 ?
2) Assuming that SUN comes in with the new version 1.4 somewhere in Sep/Oct of this year, how long it will take for the updated version of HF to come out ?

Please let me know, thanks in advance

Regards,
Manish

Now there is only SCBCD 1.3 version. If Sun update the exam it's should be SCBCD 5.0 (EJB 3.0).

HF EJB is cover SCBCD 1.3 (EJB 2.0).

If you say "we expect that most companies that are using the current version of EJBs aren't going to jump right into the new version quickly" you should consider that many people do not use EJB 2.x (or stopped using it) because of complexity, bad performance, no OO-style and so on (especially Entity Beans). So we could wait a long time until the SCBCD is upgraded, or even begin preparing for a Hibernate or Spring exam.

Cheers

Hello Ranchers
I wanted to jump right at SCBCD as the bussiness layer certification sounds better then the web layer certification . But since I learned EJB3.0(JBoss implementation) and know what difference it is from 2.x I decided to wait for the SCBCD1.4 version (or 1.5 or 5 which ever will be next). I will get my SCWCD instead and maybe some Oracle certifications until the exam will be out.
Hope the Head First Team will prepare a good book then.

The guys at work don't use for now EJB .. they go for other persistency frameworks (Hibernate ,IBates stuff like that).
I think that EJB is a great technology but for some companies it is not worth the trouble ... EJB3.0 standard will change all that I hope.
I will be on this SCBCD forum to have inside info on this exam meanwhile...
