well, i am working as well

I am slated to appear for SCBCD sometime the end of this month

In my humble opinion,
if you want to learn industry level EJB along with Certification and assuming you have no prior experience(even i didn't)

1) Read Ed Roman (atleast twice...first time it shoots a bit over the head)

Depending on your App server, deploy and test everything from the book

Once you are confident, you should switch to certification studies which include

1) Head First EJB
2) EJB Specs

i followed that strategy...and how i fared will be evident in a fortnight(hopefully)

And, it took me around 3.5 months...i appeared for SCJP on Jan 22...

Best wishes for your prep

Regards,
Rahul

Now, i Can tell you a few things with confidence...It took me exactly 3 months and 2 days to prepare for the exam with the methodolgy i preached earlier...and i got only three answers incorrect..so you can chalk out your strategy now.
