No, I dont think you need prior experience in EJB to write SCBCD. In my case, I have 4.5 years experience working in JSPs and Servlets. Sometime last year, I applied for a job that required EJB knowledge in its required skill sets. So, I went and bought a EJB book from the market. I dont want to mention the book name but I found it really boring and it was confusing.

The interview was just 1 week away and I had to learn EJB within the limited timeframe. Then I went to the market again, looking for a better EJB book. I saw Kathy & Bert's 'Head First EJB'. Having used their 'Head First Servlets and JSP' before, I knew that I can count on them. I bought the book and finished it in one week and I absolutely loved that book. Needless to say, there were many EJB questions in the interview and I performed well (Thanks again to K and B).

So, I got the job and I am doing EJB3 work for the past 3 months.. I didn't want to take the exam because the exam was based on EJB2.0. But one part of my brain kept saying 'Hey., c'mon you spent x amount of dollars buying the book. So why dont you spend xx more dollars and get the damn certificate?"..
I asked my employer and he was willing to sponser for the exam, so I thought "Hey, why not?"...

Thats my story.. I am taking the exam on Sep 6. fingers crossed.

Lynette,

Come on, do us a favor, spit out the name of that filthy book

I've also bought HFEJB and ready to dive into it.
You're already working on Ejb3 ? That's a great opporunity to understand it better, isn't it.
Good luck for September's exam.

PS:
Kathy and Bert are not married, so it's not Mr and Mrs Bates

Lynette,
Thanks for your valuable reply.

I do buy the HF EJB book, but now i am in the path of studying for SCWCD.

I know all the concepts of EJB, but never worked on a live project.

Once again thanks for your timely reply.

hi kumar there is no need for you to take scbcd for scea.
(no prerequisites needed for scea..even scjp not required)
but if you do it will help you as some objectives for scea also covers ejb.

you can better ask this in scea forum as we are not well versed in scea.

and for dawson..good luck for your scbcd.

passed the bloody scbcd exam with 90% - questions were pretty straight forward (no-brainer) and i finished the exam in 35 min. I should have spent some time reviewing my answers, but anyway.. 90 is decent score i guess.

Thats the next one on my list. I almost completed the project but I am not entirely satisfied with it, so I am gonna redo it from scratch.

Hello All,

I passed SCBCD with 98%.
When I started I had no information of EJB. Not even plain Java Beans.
I chewed "Head First book (by kathy and bert)" and glossed over few pages of "EJB 2.0 specification document", if and only if they were mentioned in
this book.

Also I would like to highlight a website "ejbcertificate.com".
From preparation to examination it took me straight 3 weeks.
This book rocks!

I am now on my way to SCWCD!(Only beacuse Head First have published a book for this certification)

Govinda Attal,
SCBCD(98%), SCJP(95%).

Off the path / No Dumb Questions
Q. Why Head First wallahs have not yet come up with a book for SCDJWS?
Ans. Don't Know :-(
