Head First EJB is really the best book for getting prepared for the exam:

Head First EJB Development

Another nice addition is Paul Sanghera's book:

SCBCD Exam Study Kit: Java Business Component Developer Certification for EJB

For EJB and other J2EE tutorials, I have some free ones on my website:

Free EJB, JNDI, BMP, CMP, SLSB and SFSB J2EE Tutorials

Cheers!

please ranchers tell me which book is best for scbcd 5 prepration

1. Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0 (5th Edition)
2. Master EJB 3.0

I have worked on one project which has ejb3 involved and using hibernate quaries... but i don't have much experience with ejb3.0 worked with normal basic queries.

and I wanted to appear for forthcomming free scbcd 5 beta exam, I am very confused which book to purchase among above two ?

can any body please guide me which book to buy ?
how to study ?
what approach to follow ?
what Stratergy to adopt ?

so all objectives can cover so that i can achieve good marks,

Mikalai Zaikin can you please refer some good source/books/material ?

I have little bit idea of ejb 3.0 because its being used in our project..

Hi,
I am planning to appear for SCBCD on EJB 3.0
Can I use Head First EJB to learn EJB concepts and then read the new concepts added/updated in EJB 3.0. In short, EJB 3.0 concepts are too much changed or only few things are added/updated? If yes, then I will read HF book only.
I like Head First series books. So I don't want to read any other book in the beginning. Please suggest.

Regards,
Paras

well i know ejb 3.0 little bit, but its major different with ejb 2.1
i also have HFEJB, but i don't recomond you at all to study that and re-study all the new concepts in ejb 3, its not much use to study HF if you are going to appear for forthcoming scbcd beta exam coz lots of difference in material and technology..
Head first book in general is v.good if you wanted to learn the concept of ejb 2.1 but not for ejb 3.0

hope that helps

by doing resarch i was in conclusion that ejb 2.0 is not neccessary to know at all if you are going to learn ejb3.0 becasue there are more then 50 % changes from ejb2 to ejb3 so there is no need to learn ejb 3

the current project i am doing involves, JSF and EJB 3.0 , before that I didn't know even the very very basic concept of ejb, now i feel comfortable, and use aroudn 15% of the scbcd sylabus i think.. i mean i get an idea what ejb is all about.. little bit

so thats not the issue that wheather knowldege of ejb2 is necessasry for ejb 3 or not ?

My Main Question is .....................
PLEASE TELL ME THE GOOD RESOURCES FOR PREPARING SCBCD 5 BETA,
HOW TO STUDY/APPRAOCH TO FOLLOW AND SOME TIPS TO GET GOOD MARKS

***HOPE I WILL GET RELEVENT AND TO THE POINT ANSWER FROM SOME EXPERSTS/RANCHERS

BEST REGARDS,
