Hello Ranchers,
can any body please tell me, how much is the similarity in contents in ejb 2.0 and ejb 3.0, I just used ejb 3.0 in my project (initial level, i.e stateless session beans with annotation and I DON'T have any any idea of ejb 2.1 )

so If anybody can please tell us the similarity between the two(with respect for contents and technology) so I can pickup the study material of EJB 2.1 and read some stuff from there that is similar and utilize the existing material for my preparation..

Can any body please list down the Exam OBJECTIVES that is similar in ejb 2.1 and ejb 3.0 ???

Kindly Reply

Regards,
Amit

For the similarity issue, you can ask in this forum EJB and Other J2EE Technologies .

Basically, EJB 3.0 is very different from EJB 2.x, and thus, it seems better start with EJB 3.0 instead of EJB 2.x.

I believe you need to put more effort to distingish topics that are not covered in EJB 2.x and search for new topics from EJB 3.0, and thus, it seems not that worth for such a short preparation time in the beta period.

For exam objectives comparsion, I think some book authors will provide it when the come across the upgrade exam. Most people now will only focus on the current exam objectives, and may not put effort to review the difference between the old exam.

I'd like to offer a different perspective.

We just finished creating the new EJB 3.0 SCBCD (it's tougher than the old one ).

During the exam creation workshop we talked about how to fit the new exam in with the old exam. Should we make an exam that combines a lot of the old stuff with the new (which is what the current SCWCD exam does)? Or, should we make a new exam that focuses mostly on the new stuff and pretty much ignores the old stuff?

We decided to do the latter. Our idea was that for a given SCBCD candidate either one of the certifications would make sense. So the old version will be around for a long time for those candidates whose jobs haven't migrated to EJB 3.0 (and we think that there will be a lot of those, for a long time). And the new version is for those candidates whose jobs will be using EJB 3.0 (lucky stiffs ).

Bottom line, we think that BOTH exams will be valid and useful for a long time!

hello experts,
after myself taking into some research
i found that those preparing for scbcd 5 beta can read following objects from HF, as they are same in ejb 2.0 and ejb3.0 and do the similar questions for question banks...

Section 9 Transactions
Section 10 Exception
Section 11 Security Management

if I am wrong somewhere, kindly share it...

and please share thoughts, and knowledge ..?

Good to see your research.
Even though at macro level you may conclude EJB 2.0 is subset of EJB 3.0
at micro level there seems to be lot of differences. So be careful.Even though you may read EJB 2.0 material you need to read EJB 3.0 to get ALL the differences.

Instead jump into EJB 3.0 directly after reading first few chapters of HFEJB as I had told previously.
