SCBCD 5: Low Response

I have noticed that not many ranchers are posting their feedback about the exam. There are hardly 5-6 posts about the exam being taken and its almost the end of the time period (Jan 2)

So does this mean that the number of people taking this Beta are less as compared to others Betas? Or people are simply being lazy and not posting their experiences?

Or will the beta date be extended???

The beta SCBCD has a pre-requisite: to be a SCP. Also, not all people are working (and are interested) in EJB. There is much more SCWCD than SCBCD...

In my case, some friends of mine do not took the beta exam because of another question: the christmas and end of year party. I took the test one day before christmas, for example.

So, get all this requisites together, and also the fact that no all people post your experience, and you will get your explication.

Oh, come on. The worst part of it is the growing need to use the bathroom half-way through. (I'm taking it tomorrow - this is my fourth or fifth beta ever..)

I, personally, do not agree this statement because I had already sit for SCJP, SCWCD, SCMAD and SCDJWS beta exams, and also Oracle 10g DBA beta exam.

Thus, I really don't find any difficulties to sit in for an exam for 5 hours.

Also, in other professional exams, like CFA Level I, it consists of 2 papers with 120 Qs for 3 hours each, although there is a lunch break, but you have to sit for 6 hours on the same day to finish 240 Qs.

Hence, I believe it is basically a good "test", which tests how we think and think correctly within a limited time frame.

the reports have scared me so much that I do not dare to take the exam. I am going to cancel my appointment.

I have almost all Sun Java certifications (waiting for SCEA result, and I don't have SCDJWS and SCMAD, though), but I doubt that I could make it this time.

In all possibility, the beta dates would be extended. This is just a personal opinion though.

I think,the extension of the Beta does some injustice to the ones who take the exam in the earlier stipulated time period. At a short notice, not many people are able to prepare for the Beta and they give the exam with incomplete preparation.

It seems that most of you are taking different kind of bita exam frequently. Are all of these exams are free of cost? How do you get proper notification about the exams? Is there any website where I can get this information regularly? or should I brows websites of respective vendors?

I guess the beta test may not be extended, because up till now, SUN did not announce anything on that, and coming 3 days are the New Year weekend holiday. Unless SUN announced today, otherwise, the possibility will be quite low.

Also, SUN has already announced this beta test for around 2 months, and the test is basically targeted to "experienced" EJB developers, and thus, they expected those people have enough time to revise. This test is basically NOT for beginners, and thus, preparation time should be enough.

In addition, no one can assure the testers' quality even SUN provide a longer study period. As per previous beta tests expereinces, SUN has only extended 1 test so far (I forget whether it is SCWCD 1.4 or SCMAD 1.0).

I think the extension will be(if extended) more targeted for those who came to know of the certificaiton late.And experts anyhow will appear as they had planned.One more reason for extension could be because of the festivals and holidays.So,people would love to freak out rather than sit and prepare.So,that way the extension would be justified.Only few would be able to re-schedule and amongst them only few may like to re-schedule since the announcement often comes in the last week.One or two weeks of extension will make some difference for these people (atleast they will be able to clear ).And they will get time to go thru the material (rather than just giving it without prep).
Lastly,EJB 3.0 is more heavy than EJB 2.0 !!! and SCBCD 5.0 is still more heavier than SCBCD 1.3 (as obvious form Berts comments and others reviews)

It is hoped by some that it will be.So far there are no official announcements.

I guess SUN has already take this factor into consideration before they set the beta period. In another point of view, they may think that people can study more during the holiday.

As for SCWCD 1.4 beta, the exam was started after 1 Jan, and ended at around 2x Jan, I forgot.

It may make sense, however, the same case is applied to SCJP Tiger Beta. Still, there is no extension for that beta test.

No announcement in SUN's website yet, and most probably no extension in this case.

I took part in beta tests since SCWCD 1.4, and took SCMAD beta, SCDJWS beta, SCJA beta and SCJP 1.5 beta. Among these 5 beta tests, if I remember correctly, there is only once that the beta period was extended (but I forgot which one).

In that case, there is NO difference between the result announcement for the so-called "first" beta testers or "second". ALL results are announced after the beta exam was concluded.

Thus, at that time, some people complaint that how come SUN did NOT announce the extension earlier which some people took the exam before the original deadline, while others took the advantage by taking the exam during the extended period.

Eventually, SUN seems hasn't formally announced how they treat that 2 groups of people.

Hi Nick, I think that it was more than once that the Betas were extended. One was the SCMAD & the other was the SCBCD (Old Beta), though am not toos ure about the last.
