Hi Ranchers,
After a month long preparation for SCBCD 5, I went to the Prometric center(NIIT, Chennai, India) to give the exam. Guess what??? They said that SUN has filtered the candidates who had registered for SCBCD beta based on some criteria(which they themselves were not aware of..) and I was not listed to take up the exam.. Infact I registered for the exam on the very first day, Nov 24th. Just wanted to checkout whether anybody else had a similar experience.

Regards,
Malan

Hey, Malan,

Just to know... You scheduled your test at the prometric site? Do you get a confirmation?

I think that, if is the case, you must report what happened to you to both Sun and Prometric. Someone must give you some feedback about this!

I'm sorry about you, I hope you have a chance to take the beta.

Malan,

I am sorry to hear about that. I have some problems when I went to exam centre today (just came back!). Lucky that the problem is resolved after struggle for an hour.

When I arrive to the exam centre at 3pm this afternoon, the centre told me that they are unable to download the questions from Prometic

They have retried several times but still in vain. Lucky that the connection seems suddenly recover, and they can download the test for me.

Eventually, I have used 4 hours to complete the test. It is a great test, and seems it is less difficult as I expected.

Hoping that Prometric/Sun can resolve your issue too.

Nick

Me too. Just came back from prometric center(Baltimore, MD, my test site is belong to prometric corp.). I got the prometric exam confirmation email. When I arrived test center, they told me that my register information can not be found in their system, then gave me the phone number let me call their center using my cell phone //faint). After calling, I was told that there is no test site can let me take this exam in maryland today and they are very sorry. I had very bad experience with prometetric before. When I took SCJD, fist time test center was close, second time during test, test application is crash, can not continue test.
Anyway, finally they said they could give me no cost or discount for exam of final SCBCD5. (~30miles + 11$ parking + 7 days preparation)

Could anyone know when will SCBCD5 be available?

Thanks

Happy New Year!

I am sorry some of you have had problems at some Prometric testing center. Please send me a direct email at [email protected] with the testing site you had probmems and what was the exact problem, so I can help you directly and not thru the Javaranch site.

Thank you.

I appreciate Bert Bates & Evelyn Cartagena for helping javaranchers when they are in trouble. It shows their helping hands & greatness...

I heard similar problem for my friend Ganesh when he went to take take the exam in Chennai(India), NIIT center. He was told the same thing 2 weeks ago and he posted message too in this javaranch forum.

Here is the thread he posted earlier in the same forum.

I thought he is alone facing that problem and felt that he would not have registered properly. Now only, I am learning that its problem with lot of people..

I agree that sometimes strange things happen with Prometric. Few of my experiences with Prometric.

1) When I went to take SCDJWS exam on Dec 9th, which was scheduled, exam center was closed.. I cannot explain you the trouble I had that day to reach exam center in the snow storm..As I couldn't take out my car in the snow, I went by walk for 3 miles. I didn't get any email or phone call in advance from the center saying that it is closed. I was afraid that they may not allow me to re-take exam if I don't reach that day.. I took all the trouble just to know that exam center was closed.
Luckily they rescheduled the exam to next week but even today my status in the Prometric shows for the exam of Dec 9th as 'No Show' as if I didn't appear for the exam. Which is wrong status..

2) They never got my score receipt after finishing the exam SCBCD... They said they had problem with reprot and I had to wait for one day just to know my result whether pass or fail.. The status in the prometric machine showed as 'Test In progress' even though I finished exam..

3) I registered for SCBCD 5.0 the very first day and scheduled it on Dec 30th.. It was scheduled too.. After a gap of 10 days one of my friend wanted to register for the exam and called prometric to schedule exam on the same date Dec 30th and learnt that they dont work on Dec 30th.. When I called them again they said they dont work on Dec 30th and reschedule my exam to Dec 29th. If I had not called it would have gone unnoticed and I would have gone again to Prometric on Dec 30th just to learn it is closed again..

Big messes. I forgot to tell you.. I wrote all these exams in Peoria, IL.

I just came back from the Prometric Center at University of Houston Downtown campus, and its closed today without giving me any notice in advance. I called the center and their mail box was full, and I couldnt even leave a message. Some other test takers told me that University of Houston downtown campus is closed for the funeral of President Ford.

I called scheduling line of Prometric to see if I can take the test at a different site, and their representative told me that she could not reschedule within 24 hours, and she told me to call their customer service. When I call their customer service, they said I wont be able to re-schedule the test at a different site today without giving some extra fee, even I told her that today is the last day to take the beta test, and it is not my fault.

This is really ridiculous. I spent my New Year Eve to prepare for the test and only found that out that I wont be able to take it.

Hi Ranchers,

Very sad to here about the bad experience with Prometric Centre, But I would like to add one more complain ticket to this. When I was first appeared for SCJP at Prometric Center Indore (India). There was light cutt off in the city at 9 am , and I had make my mind for giving the exam, but the condition were pathetic at that centre there were no back up / electric generator for giving the exam. I have to reschedule my exam on the evening.

During my SCBCD 5.0 Beta exam at Prometric centre (Pune, India). The test was schedule at 9.00 am but till 9:30 no on was in the office. I have to wait. I had skip my tea and break fast to meet the time schdule, and I found only the door keeper at centre.

Prometric Centre needs to improve the dicipline and standard before entitling as internation testing centre.

Hope this thread can bring some disipline to the Prometric Centre

-Cheers

Hi Ranchers,

I've scheduled the exam in the last day 2 January in Romania.
Because the test site is 300 miles far away I called them to make sure the test center open. I was informed that it is closed and I was not able to find any other test center open in my country on that date.

I've sent an email to Prometric to ask about this.
They've apologised because the center did not follow procedures to avoid
this situation. They told me that I
will not be able to take the exam after the 2nd January as per the Sun
website.
This was a real dissapointment to me.

Regards,
Ionut

Even I had faced this situation it would have been nice.
You are getting free voucher for original exam for which you have 1 year time and 60 questions and moreover mature questions..
Now I can say that I am unlucky to write beta exam without any troubles.
All the best guys for your original exam.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
