I followed the instructions in the Head First EJB book first chapter for the Advice Application.

When I compiled the client and I tried to <b>run</b> it, I got the following <b>Exception</b>

I did not set any roles too, but I am not sure why is this happening.

C:\projects\advice>javac -classpath %CLASSPATH%;AdviceAppClient.jar AdviceClient
.java

C:\projects\advice>java -cp %CLASSPATH%;AdviceAppClient.jar AdviceClient

so I downloaded jdk1.4

That is the problem. Switch back to JDK 1.3. You get this exception because of an incompatible JDK ( ie the JDK should be 1.3 )
