Hi,

Can anyone suggest which book to read first. I am just starting preparing for SCBCD 5.

I went through the forum and got quiet confused on which book to read first.
I found 2 books for SCBCD.

1. Head First EJB by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates.
Is this book good enough for SCBCD 5.0
2. EJB3 in action by Manning

Please let me know which one to buy.

Thanks,
Sid

I would not recommend to read HFEJB if you would like to learn and do the certification for EJB3 (SCBCD5), since HFEJB is based on EJB2.

For EJB3 books, refer, as usual, to our links section:

Hi,

I found the following notes in the Books Section of "http://faq.javaranch.com/java/ScbcdLinks#scbcd50"

"OReilly Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0 (5th Edition) (Home page,Read Chapter 4)"

Does this mean that I need to buy the Oreilly book just for reading the 4th chapter.

No, it means that you can read Chapter 4 for free, as there's a downloadable pdf at the book's home page. You'll have to buy the book if you're interested in reading the other chapters.

Hi,

There seems to be many books
Mastering EJB
O'Reilly EJB 3
Apress Pro EJB3 Java Persistence API

are there any specific chapters from Apress that we need to read for persistence. I am currently reading Mastering EJB. Are the persistence concepets given in this book enough for the exam.
