I took the exam this morning after 1-2 months of preparation.

I must say that I'm completely happy with the results. I was only aiming to pass due to the limited preparation time. I used the free voucher from the Sun blueprints survey which had an expiration date of Jan 31 (today). Too bad the expiration date isn't within the free tshirt period (Feb-March).

I used Enterprise Javabeans 3.0 (Oreilly) as my main resource.

I didn't have much prior EJB experience except for probably the information I learned while studying for SCEA Part I and and SCEA 5 Beta Part I. I read approx half a chapter a day of the Oreilly book (depending on the duration of my bus trip to work in the morning).

During my last week of preparations, I used the EJB 5 Enthuware simulator. I would have to thank Paul Anil for being so kind to provide the simulator even if my credit card transaction failed the first time I tried. (We might need to discuss offline how I can retry the payment) I must say that the simulator has been very very very helpful. Due to tight schedule at work, I only managed to take each sample exam once with scores ranging from 50%-60%. The final exam in the simulator was the only practice exam I passed!

Special thanks goes to Mikalai Zaikin also for his BCD5 notes. The section on the different roles (Bean Provider, Deployer, etc) was very useful. I didn't manage to go through the whole study guide, but the contents look pretty interesting and very fit for the exam.

Hope this info helps! Good luck to the next exam takers!

Hi Narendra! Unfortunately, I was unable to complete Part II of SCEA 5 Beta last year. My family had to move to a new house during the very short three week assignment timeframe. I was not perfectly happy with the progress I made during that period so I intended not to submit the assignment.

Do keep us posted with your results!

I read many of them talking about free vouchers from Sun. How do you get free vouchers? Is it becoz of the score you get in the Sun exams? Please let me know.

Hi kumarsp,

We get free vouchers by hanging out in the RANCH all day.

Seriously, SUN normally post special announcements here in the Ranch, like BETA Exams, surveys, etc.

The last free voucher promo was for the Architect exam. They conducted a survey and all those who participated in it got free exam vouchers.

Thanks SUN!

Benot and Alim, thanks for the greeting!

See you around the Ranch.
