Why we need to do EJB 1.3 ? or EJB 3.0 !!!

This Question bugging me !

Are they successful APIs ?

Does anybody chooses these Heavy weight containers like (EJB 1.3) as
We have light weight containers availbale Springs.

please share your ideas.

It all depends on the scale and complexity of the project really.
A verry heavy application based on multiple servers with the requirement of still being flexible and easy to manage will lean more to EJB I guess.
Also.. a company where there's a strict barrier between the programmer, the application manager and the server admin will love ejb for it's separation of roles.
But if you have the same requirements for a small application, EJB would indeed be a bit of overkill.
They both have their advantages and disadvantages and choosing one depends on the situation.
