Is there any advantage/disadvantage is using multiple EJB's in an application?

One approach is to have an EJB corresponding to each usecase so that the use cases can be independently altered/tracked.

Another approach is to have a single stateful/stateless session bean and use helper classes (POJO's) to implement the business logic. Does this (or doesnt this) approach make the entire application light weight, faster and yet make available the features of EJBs ?
