The specs state that the client of an EJB will receive EJBException when the bean throws system exceptions and will recieve RemoteException if the business interface extends java.rmi.Remote.

Which exception will be received by the bean whose business interface has been defined only with @Remote annotation?

Definitely EJBException as RemoteException is taken care of by the container [ as specified in MZ's notes ]

I tested it yesterday on Glassfish and I can confirm that the client receives an EJBException.
