Hi Mighty Ranchers,
I have just completed my SCWCD and interested in going for SCBCD. but the fact is I am new to EJB. After running thru the thread "EJB 3.0 Industrial demand" by Sree Vishnu... I am a bit confused whether to go in for EJB 3.0 or not !!!

In the current industry, for a newbee like me to work on any EJB based (new or existing) projects do I need to know EJB 2.0 concepts or can i go ahead with EJB 3.0 ??

looking forward to see some practical suggestions and expert's advices

hi vishwanath,

I don't see any harm in new technology, though ejb 3.0 has many new feature which you can find in other technologies like spring and hibernate like dependency injection, JPA, annotation, interceptors, etc. Learning EJB 3.0 not only give you idea how all this things work moreover learning of new features can give little bit of grasp on other technologies for quick learning.

EJB3 has lots of things that are not elegant or streamlined, but it's still a good platform for building enterprise applications, so knowing it is essential.

"Vishwanath",
Welcome to the ranch. You may not be aware of the ranch Naming Policy. Please read it carefully and change your name accordingly (you need to set both first and last names). Thank you.

EJB3.0 is a fantastic technology. Just knowing JPA, an important part of EJB3, will carry you a long way. Maybe even just concentrate on JPA first.

If you already know hibernate you will feel right at home with JPA (not really a part of EJB 3 core specs but closely related to it).

No need to start with EJB 2, I think that approach will only confuse you.

I say go for it! There's no harm in trying (as long as you have time to spare).
What's a year in metric? Do you know this metric stuff tiny ad?
