It's Ugly, But...

I'm a bit disappointed in myself for not improving more, given all the studying I did.
I failed a month ago with a 59%, so you can imagine I was disappointed. I did everything right this time - I printed out Ken's notes and poured over them, made flash cards, did mock exams...
I squeaked out today with a 67%.
I know, I know, it's good enough for passing which is what matters. And I did improve my scores in the categories I'd done worst in last time (which are the categories of skills I actually don't use very often at work, come to think of it).I'll consider it room for improvement.
I did, however, get five or six "fill in" questions this time, which really surprised me. Is it just me, or did Sun make this exam harder in the last month?

Let me be the first to congratulate you.
Now you are officially a Sun Certified Web Components Developer, whereas I'm just a mesely Sun Certified Java Programmer.
Looks as if I'm gonna has to study my @$$ off to pass this exam.

My experiences?
The first time I took the exam, I thought that my experience at work would be enough to get me through it, since I've been using servlets almost as long as I've been using Java. Boy, was I wrong. (The programmers that I work with tend not to use JSP's to their full potential, which means I don't tend to either for fear of their not being able to maintain my code, which was probably a handicap.)
The second time, I actually studied properly. I used Ken's notes and made flash cards as the bulk of my preparation, though I did take the time to look over the Sun documentation for Servlets and JSP's once. It helped me improve in those areas that I am not familiar with that I got by.
I did take a few mock exams, including downloading trials of both prep products currently available and taking the mock exam above. I did much better on those than I did on the real thing - averaging above 80%. I don't think it's so much a matter of the mock exams being easier as much as the real test asking more questions in areas I was shaky on, but then again, that's just my thoughts on the matter.
I think the hardest part for me were the fill-in questions. At least with multiple choice, I can have a hope of guessing and getting it right if I don't know the answer. I had five or six fill-ins on this go-through, as opposed to one on the prior attempt.
The test *is* harder, imho, than the SCPJ2 exam, which is probably due to the narrower focus of the material. If you use servlets and JSP's on a regular basis, it shouldn't take too much studying to pass.
