how do i configure tomcat 4.0 for windows 95

Should simply be a matter of unzipping the distribution, renaming the directory from "jakarta-tomcat-4.0" to something that DOS can handle (i.e. eight chars or less), and then setting the environment variable CATALINA_HOME to that directory.
You may need to increase environment space (the amount of memory set aside for environment variables) ... see the Win95 manual.
You'll probably also need to increase the memory allowed to the DOS window that opens when you click on "startup.bat"
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
