I really don't know what term to use to quantify. Which is "easier" to take, SCJP or SCWCD exam?
Thank you very much for the info!

Reports are that the SCWCD exam is easier than the SCJP but, most of the indivduals worked with servlets an JSPs so...
Remember though you must have passed the SCJP before you can take the SCWCD!

Carl .... really so?
What abt the volume in lieu of "toughness" only?
SCJP is time-taking but u can get thru it after adequate study. Same to SCWCD also?....i have no idea yet....

SCWCD was a LOT easier than SCJP. In my opinion, this has largely to do with the amount of material covered. SCWCD has very limited material to test. If you make sure that you understand the objectives and know answers for all of them, you're more than ready.
Let me stress that having first-hand experience with Servlets/JSP will be GREATLY HELPFUL and should be a must. Please don't try to get a paper SCWCD, the value it buys you will be very little. Tomcat 4.0 is really easy to install and work with, and it's free. Just play with it..
I always thought that preparing for a certification is a great way to explore technologies. Personally, it was true for me when I prepared for SCJP. Certification was important, yet the things you learn while you prepare for the certification are more important. Though I was already working with JSP/Servlets, going for the certification made me read the specifications and understand the things better. On the other hand, already having working knowledge helped me understand things easily and clearly when reading the specifications.
Hope this makes sense.
Regards.

Hi,
I think the one with SCJP honor need not worry about the complexity of the SCWCD exam.
Make sure the following:
a.) You have gone thru the specs atleast once if not twice or more.
b.) Make sure you are clear about each and every objective as prescribed by SUN.
c.) Make sure you actually deploy some JSPs/Servlets - this will make your concepts clear about Web App Structure besides many other things.
d.) Make sure you know each and every element of DD with the hierarchy.
e.) Make sure you know the methods/classes/interfaces names as prescribed in the objectives.
You dont need tons of mock questions. I believe 2-3 goog quality Mock exams are more than sufficient.
Now we have great notes avaliable from great guys like Ken, Miftahk etc.
Thus the journey to SCWCD can't be tough in its current status.
All the best to All of you
