that you already win once a javaranch's giveaway.
I have an experience that wehn smth, like a book, enters European Union (you are not in EU but out of USA), the receiver should pay taxes doubling the price of the book/course and there a lot of burocracy with customs. Or the customs just do not give away your giveaway.
Have you paid? What is your experience? What is the origin of giveaway?

You only have to pay customs duty on purchases. Since these giveaways are "gifts" you shouldn't need to pay any duty.

Thanks, Tim,
that what I did not have yet. A give away, I thought it is on any merchandise (how do they, in customs, possibly distinguish?) since I have experience of giving away out of EU, and there also were duties for beneficiaries.

Vanin, thnx 4 ur query!
The interesting part is that i have won J@Whiz 2.0 last week, and i passed SCJP 2 months back... ...anyway it'll b workful 4 my students. Another thing is that as it's not a book, probabaly i have to download it from Whizlabs and then only the installation key will b mailed to me. The problem of Airport tax would be the most in my country if i would have won a book, i might not have got the book at all... ...so i m releived....
I m waiting when whizlabs will mail me 4 my giveaway...

When you send a packet abroad you have to fill in a customs declaration (a small green ticket) which is attached to the packet. It has a checkbox to say that the contents are a gift

Thanx to all. I really needed that information, not only for getting to Java ...
I really prefer a parcel bcoz I am not authorized to use Internet for [personal] studies, and I do not have any other access
Then usually I am printing all what I pretend to read, I beleive that looking into screen is tiresome.
