Hiya friends,
Sorry fer the delay. I passed the exam yesterday. Thanks to all of u. Mah take on the exam:
The exam questions are not tricky at all. More than 90% were direct questions.
Pay special attention to the Tag Library, Deployment descriptor & the the methods in each of the classes covered in the exam objectives.
Some design pattern names I had seen in the exam which are not part of the exam objectives as such like Front Component & Facade.
The exam requires u to remembr all the method names, deployment
descriptor elements, attributes of a descriptor element, tag lib
syntax, and tld elements. The whole exam contained not more than 3-4 code questions (in which u really have to look @ the code).
There were no tricky questions as such. I feel one can clear the exam without even knowing the basics of JSP and Servlets but just by
mugging up the things.
I'm planning to come up with a tutorial on SCWCD exam. There are
already many tutorials available fer SCWCD exam. Please make sure
that if u go thru the specifications or the books then u study the particular portions that are mentioned in the exam objectives
provided by Sun.
For members who feel that they can learn something from this
Certification exam then I'm sorry I feel it's more of mugging than understanding the concepts. Even if someone has the working knowledge of the JSP and Servlets I'm sure it gonna be difficult for him / her to clear the certification.
As such I feel that SCJP2 exam was much bettah in the quality of
questions as compared to SCWCD. I spend one full day reading the
specs and now I feel it was too much fer the exam. A couple of hrs of mugging (if u already have some idea of JSP and Servlets)is enuff to clear and score good in SCWCD exam.
Now onto the part II of the Architect Certification, which is mah favorite one
There were questions on filters !!
Miftah's notes can be accessed from the following URL. This is really good fer mugging all the stuffs in one go. It's a good work done by Miftah.

Congratulations Ashish!
Glad to know that the exam wasn't so difficult.Just read a post by Anand and was wondering if my prepartion was sufficient.
How much prior experience did you have,on Servlet/JSP?
What books did you read?
How long did you prepare?
And if you don't mind, what was your score?
Thanks in advance,
~s

Congrats Ashish! I think as SCWCD is a very new exam, the quality will increase in time....
Then should we first pass the exam and then jump into the deeps of Servlet/JSP? Your personal opine is important as we see your profile, you have almost conquesred SUN(SCJP,SCJD,SCWCD and now on the way of SCJEA)....
And plz have a reply on Narasipur's qs also.......

Hi,
Sorry I didn't write the score as I cud barely clear the exam with 62%. Cudn't score at all 'coz I wasn't prepared fer that kindda exam. I thot there will be atleast 40 % logical questions that can be answered using some logic but I was wrong. I cudn't find any such questions. The inclination was more towards syntax and mugging the method names etc. I was really disappointed when in the first 20 questions I found the exam was not upto the quality I expected. I have more than 6 months experience in JSP & Servlets. I spend one full day reading the specs and going thru the Java & JSP books from orielly. But I think I wasted mah time reading those many things as Miftah's notes I feel are enuff to clear the exam with flying score.

Hi Gagan,
Thanks alot buddy. Well mah suggestion will be not to try each and every book. Specifications are more than enuff fer preparing fer the exams. But make sure that the last 2-3 days u spend not only on understanding stuffs but also remembering them. And I'm sure in last two days u can try the study notes of the ppl. I don't think there is any use of going specifically thru Orielly's book as the concise version of it is already present in the study notes made by the ppl.
I'm not blessed or anything special with me. I read very fast and mah concepts are clear in wot evah I read. SCEA Part I was the same fer me in which I spend just one night to go thru the study notes of someone and had taken the exam.
Sun certifications are kewl but the assignment part of the certification exam(SCJD, SCEA) is the best. I had a very good experience in SCJD2 where I scored 92%. Now mah main interest is to take the SCEA Part II which involves UML.
Many thankx to all of u.

Hi Ashik,
Frankly mah suggestion will nevah be to take the exam first and then go into the deep of JSP and Servlets. but with the increasing job crises and seeing the market situation I'm sure everyone wanna play safe by keeping a good number of certficates. So when the time is less and anyways u wanna get certified mah suggestion will not to worry abt increasing the knowledge but to get certified by spending energy in the right direction. Offcourse this may not have a positive impact in ur career as it will not give u knowledge it will give u a certficate only. So it was suggestion fer those who wanna get certfied. And many ppl will be here who wanna understand *like me* but at the sametime in SCWCD exam i feel that undesstanding of the subject is not of much concern. So the best way to take the exam is to try to understand as many things u want but mugging in the end is must to come up with the flying score *which may matter to some ppl* For me to was not a concern so cudn't come up with a great score.
Do let me know i case of more queries.

i m not having second edition of Jason Huntor as well professional Jsp by Wrox sice they r not available..

Hi Mahajan,
Thanks. Well I don't think it is necessary to use any book fer the exam as the specifications are more than enuff fer SCWCD. If u see the posts of some members who have passed the exam, they have only gone thru the specs and notes of Miftah and Ken and a couple of mock tests.
do revert back in case of more queries.

Hi FEI,
Yes I think if u can remember those things it's gonna make hell lotta difference. I too made the mistake of not mugging the things and I had to pay fer it in terms of score. One month for remembering is too much fer an exam like SCWD may be if u say one day then it's okie lol Well if u have one month with u, then the best way will be to understand the things as much as u can in 3 weeks and keep the last week fer remembering and understanding both....... putting major emphasis on remebering the method names, etc etc.
I think one month is more than enuff to come up with flying scores.

All the best to u !!
