Passed today with 93%. Thanks to every one who contributed to this forum. Much appreciated. Resources used: I'm the sort of person who remembers things by doing things and not blinding memorizing details. To this end, I went through all of the Servlet API 2.3 spec in conjunction with Jason Hunter's 'Servlet Programming' (2nd Edition). I went through all the pertinent examples using Tomcat 4, customizing them until I understood all behaviour of servlets. For JSPs I used the JSP 1.2 spec in conjunction with 'Core Servlets and JSPS'. Although this book was only JSP 1.1 compliant, the changes I had to remember for JSP 1.2 enforced my understanding. I also went through the first couple of chapters of 'Advanced Java Server Pages' by David Geary for his discussion on custom tags. I again went through numerous examples using Tomcat 4. I think this helped me to remember a lot about the deployment descriptors and tag library descriptors. It makes sense to download the dtds for web.xml deployment descriptor and tlds. (http://java.sun.com/dtd/). This helps you remember what goes where and in what order. I went through most of the design patterns using J2EE BluePrints and 'Core J2EE Patterns' by Deepak Alur. You should pay attention to the why a particular pattern should be used and the consequences of using that pattern. The patterns I revised for were: Front Component, Session Entity Facade, Bimodal Data Access (now known as Fast Lane Reader), Data Access Object, Value Object and Business delegate. The GOF patterns revised for were: Factory, Facade, Singleton and Template.
I was fairly confident by the time I purchased some mock exams. I used JWebPlus and was averaging about 95% for each mock test. Again I think this was done to the multitude of examples I went through. I found the test quite straightforward. There wasn't any questions on topics which I hadn't seen before. There was a few tricky questions which you had to read through properly to get the correct answer. I think if your methodical and keep your wits about you, you should be OK.
Finally I want to make a big thank you to Miftah Khan and Ken Zrobok for their excellent notes.
