I Passed the Damned Test! :-)

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
I finally took the damned exam yesterday.
I decided not to study for it after 1.75 years of working professionally as a JSP-Servlet programmer.
Since I had made the commitment at work (as part of a "stretch goal" that is expected from ALL employees, all in their capacity, to help the company survive) to pass the SCWCD in 2001, I just went for it. And I did it.
It was just very boring to study about what you do every day. Of course there are areas that as a developer some of us don't delve into on a daily basis, but worse is the fact that we professional developers don't have to MEMORIZE every single method much less to what interface or class they belongs to. That's why we own books! ( http://javaranch.com/images/tony_at_work.jpg )
At any rate what I did the day before was to annotate the objectives from Sun's site with my comments and yes I took the 2 practice tests of the whizlabs guys the same day. That's it.
And at the exam I did not go through the questions a second time like I did when I took the SCPJ2 (when it was necessary that I do so and it paid off: 98%).
I got 79%. I passed with 18 points above what's necessary And I have a job as a Web Component Developer in Java!
Happy New Year to All! I know I'll have one!
Saludos,
Tony

Congrats!! I wish I had that courage of going for the test without much preparation. I wanted to enjoy the new year as a web component developer but it is not going to be possible (read my new post for the reason).
Congrats again

Your picture at work is like a scene from the Sopranos.

By the way, where did you get the Java class poster?
Need to decorate my cube.

Ray Smilgius,
If you buy the book
Effective Java PRogramming Language Guide by Joshua Bloch
It comes with J2SE posters. Remember book come with and without posters so ask for the copy with the posters.
Also you could go to javareport.com and get J2EE posters
Hope this helps

Thanks to all!
And Ray: You are the second person who was reminded of The Sopranos when they saw my picture!
About the Java Class Libraries poster, here is Amazon's entry:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201752824/electricporkchop
And the J2EE poster:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201716232/electricporkchop
If you buy them using the given links, JavaRanch gets a little commission which I'm sure you'd all agree that it deserves... (It won't cost you more, BTW.)

Congrats Tony, i remember ur SCJP Score and find it justifiable that u r not giving same emphasis on SCWCD due to ur current position. I m a little bit of ur sort (in far lower margin though )and wanna learn & work in servlets/jsp rather than just pass the exam.
Wish u rapid progress in ur career!
