Hi
I know this site is staffed by volunteers but still...
In SCWCD forum there are two Moderators
1)Peter den Haan
2)Carl Trusiak
No. of posts by them in last 30 days is 1, that is by Carl.
Very true, you cannot force someone to answer our posts.
Is there any way we can be sure if not once in a day then atleast once in week, moderator is taking care of his forum. OR else what is the need of moderator??
No complaints against anyone...
for writing this, reason is simple I have queries for which even search is not providing the help and in forum everyone is still under learning process.

Just my opinion, and no offense meant, but I never had the impression that it was the responsibility of the moderators to answer every question. I always thought their job was more or less to keep things running in an orderly manner. The number of posts a moderator makes I would think is not an accurate guage of their contributions to the site, particularly since there is doubtless much that goes on behind the scenes.
In general it is the responsibility of every member to answer questions that are posed, if they are able to do so. A forum such as this is supposed to be a give-and-take exchange of ideas and information. Just because someone is a moderator doesn't mean they are an all-knowing fountain of Java knowledge, just somebody who is fairly helpful and willing to take on the task.
And like you said, the moderators are volunteers....
Anyway, just my $0.02.

Yes Jason , You are very true..
but what would you say, if s/he is not doing his volunteered job .. let us say as per you "their job was more or less to keep things running in an orderly manner."
Its not running orderly. I mean Ranchers has only one policy and that is not being followed. Its just an exa.
I am not saying that they are not helpful OR they must give answer.
I am saying when one is not able to volunteer himself then either he should inform others OR someone make sure that new moderators are there.
You can take this post as information that right now there is no moderator for SCWCD.

That's right. Now take a forum like Meaningless Drivel... can there be too many moderators for that one? Of course, I have noticed that many of the moderators have taken it upon themselves to moderate it anyway . Some of us MD'ers feel it is our duty to make sure Jim Yingst earns his JavaRanch paycheck.

Of course you'll get your cut of that shortly, Jason - as soon as [XXXXX] has that little "accident" we discussed.

Whoa. I'm over my ears in building the back-end for the new F.A. Premier League (#1 UK soccer league) web site, and all I've done is occasionally dip into the forum to see if it was still roughly on track. As has been said earlier, Moderators do not necessarily always actively answer queries.
Nevertheless I didn't notice that Carl's participation was on the backburner as well and take full responsibility for not liaising more closely with him in this regard. My apologies.

Probably, scwcd forum members are cooperating each other in such a fine fashion that bartendars are in relief....
