Is there a way I can listen to Servlets?

Wondering if I can get notified when a Servlet is being removed from service. Something similar to SessionActivationListener/sessionWillPassivate...
I haven't seen any in the API. Probably should use an indirect way, right?

how about init()/destroy()?

Also, initialization/removing is different from activate/passivate. ServletContext is not distributable (unlike session) hence no need for activation framework.
