First of all, congrats. Second of all, I see you
guys keep taking certs, I wonder if you guys got any real job cuz of your certs? We cannot just keep giving our money to test centers without getting any benefits, right? Or is this just one way to boost IT bussiness? This really makes me wonder even though I also try to give away my money like you guys.

When java is under attack from .NET, and the competition intensifies in the web services area, as a developer where do you put JAVA?

I like Java like everyone here, and I am now spending my "free" time and trying to take some certs. But, the reality is that I have'nt seen much real java job openings in my city for a long time. There are a few senior level jobs which require 5-8 year IT experience. I am wondering if there is any pie left to share?

Things seem get worse(read this). Sun has not managed to join as a board member of the newly formed WS-I organization, right? I wont lose any confidence in Sun, but time to market is so crucial, so... just cant imagine.

It is better to go for any product certification if you have experience in JAVA development. I will advise for webLogoc or Web sphere certification if you have java development experience.

The question here, is did anyone get a job because of certification.
Well, no one will (or should) get handed a job purely because of proven technical knowledge (either through exams or otherwise). Technical knowledge is only one of many qualities that any decent interviewer will look for. Communication skills and team-work are becoming just (if not more) important that pure technical skills.
I've worked with some technically brilliant people before, but if they can't communicate or work with the rest of the team, then they're next to worthless.
As for .NET, well it'll take some market share away from J2EE, but both technologies will continue for a long time to come. Neither will completely dominate.
