Hi I tried these two expressions <%= "\"aa\\" %> output "aa\ (it is ok as per the jsp specs) but <%= "\''aa\\" %> also gives "aa\ though jsp specs says A ‘ is quoted as \’. This is required within a single quote-delimited attribute value.(page 40) then why it gave the same output

But did it? With many proportional fonts, the difference between two single quotes '' and one double quote " is very hard to see. View the page source to make sure. - Peter
