i have tried with tomcat 3.3 but donot know whether
it works with tomcat 4.0
if anyone using 4.o version and have tried on it can clarify
i will be thankful
(Note:In jsp1.2 specs also these 3 entries are given to be
mandatory)

They are mandatory regardless of whether any particular JSP container enforces this or not. Any container that uses a validating XML parser will fail to read configuration files without them.
Having said that, most containers are pretty lenient.

Just curious, why are you still hanging on to Tomcat 3.3. The taglib's stuff is quite different between these two. I strongly suggest you move to Tomcat 4.* if you are preparing for the exam.

Madhav,
can you point our attention to the diferences
between tomcat 3.3 and 4 and how deep do we have to know them for the exam?
Thank's a lot.
