what do you think about "Professional JSP"? Is it a good book to prepare to certification exam?

Hello there,
There will be couple of books dedicated for exam
prep out in the market soon.
Initially they said books will be out in June but not published yet.. don't know what is happening..
One from Cybex and the other from Mannings..

Well I'm currently using SCWCD Exam Study Guide by the writers of JWebPlus and must this book is pretty good, exhaustive of topics to the point of being too anal but I guess this is what is required for the exam. The book isn't published yet according to Amazon but you can pick it for free with a copy of JWebPlus .. well worth the investment imho.

Renata,
I like and own the book, but I think there are other books better suited for the exam (for example More Servlets and JSP or the new SCWCD-exam books).
Still Professional JSP is a fascinating book. There are good discussions of application design, which isn't ask in the exam, but which is very valuable to know for the praxis.
I would consider to buy Professional JSP and another book more exam-directed.

E book in manning is like $16.
It's $35 with Webplus.
So does it worth to have extra $19 for the mock exam? Pls suggest. Thanks!

Well I've now read it all and must say its a really good book. You do get very lost in the detail of the Tag library chapters .. and I mean lost .. kinda reading the same paragraph 3/4 times but this is good since 10-20% of the exam is this tag library stuff.
As for buying it with JWebPlus .. depends if you were going to buy the exam anyway .. I was just going to buy the exam .. and got the book for free .. ACE!

well, the book sure seems good but they have blocked the printing. so for those stuff which u feel like reading over and over again, u have to be always besides the computer - a pain...felt kind of cheated.

Yes, it's quite surprising how much tag library stuff is in the certification. Don't forget though, you can download a couple of sample chapters from Professional JSP Tag Libraries.
  • Chapter 6, Body Tags
  • Chapter 8, Tag Patterns

I have had a look at the eBook from the JWebPlus guys, looks good to me and you can get a version of it just about instantly if you have a web connection (which you must have or you couldn't read this).

I'm in the process of reading/reviewing the SCWCD Study Kit for the JavaRanch (I'm just having issues reading the softcopy -- my eyes don't like it much) I'm likin it so far.
Just as an FYI -- We'll be having a giveaway of the SCWCD book in this forum next week: Check out the July newsletter for more information.

Can anyone who has read BOTH SCWCD books that are now available (ie, Java 2 Web Developer Certification Guide from Sybex and SCWCD Exam Study Kit from Manning) make a comparative review? Thanks.
