There is no topic about filters in the Objectives. Isn't there any questions about it?
Thanks,
Aleks

1st thing:
"Aleks"-
Welcome to the JavaRanch! Please adjust your displayed name to match the JavaRanch Naming Policy.
You can change it here.
Thanks! and again welcome to the JavaRanch!
2nd thing:
As you said, filter are not part of the current exam Objectives for SCWCD and so there will be no questions on the current exam regarding this topic.
However in the new SCWCD Exam Study Kit they have an entire chapter dedicated to it:
Chapter 18, Using Filters
The topics discussed in this chapter are currently not included in the exam objectives. However, in case these topics are included in the exam at some time in the future, we've created some possible objectes for these topics.
Potential objectives
1- Identify the interfaces (or classes) and methods used in each of the following: Implement a filter; Initialize a filter; Handle the filter life-cycle events
2- Identify the web application deployment descriptor element names used to accomplsh the following actions: Declare a filter; Declare filter initialization parameters; Associate a filter with a resource; Associate a filter with a URL pattern.
3- Identify the interfaces or classes that are used to achieve the following: Alter requests from clients. Alter responses from resources.

Though they are not in the objectives, there are instances of its appearances. I think it will be safe to have knowledge about Filters than being ignorant. Either way, apart from certifiation, its good to know to use Filters when required.
Certification is only a means to attain knowledege ...right ?
