Hi,
Regarding HANUMANT DESHMUKH's book

12.4 JSP PAGES AS XML DOCUMENTS Section :
...
You should remember two important points about using the XML and JSP syntax
together:
 The standard JSP tags and XML-based tags cannot be mixed within a single JSP page.
...

but isn't jsp page using JSP syntax already using XML style syntax in something like <jsp:include page="page.html" /> ?
In example :

Anyone can help clarify this ?

See El:
<%-- JSP syntax --%>
<% String user = "John";%>
Hello, <%= user %>
<%-- mixed with XML syntax -->
<jsp:include page="copyright.html" />
In the above code, <jsp:include> is an standard action[@include is an include directive.It's not an standard action]. The standard actions in JSP are of xml syntax. And hence one would feel that they are mixing up "JSP xml syntax" and the common "JSP syntax".
