Hi everyone. I used to come to this forum a LONG time ago (like when this certification was first introduced 2 summers ago). I forgot what name I used back then, so I've re-registered under a new name. I intended on doing this cert. when a proper study guide was finally introduced. After a few months, I gave up to the fact that there probably never was going to be one. I actually ended up forgetting about this cert. altogether. Well, I was in the bookstore the other day, and not one, but two, proper study guides for this certification caught the corner of my eye. I remembered that I was going to do this certification at one time, so I've decided that I will do it now.
One study guide was from Sybex (I used their book for the programmer's exam), the other one was from Que Publishing. Which one is better? Are there any others out there?

Max you are lost in the world!
Professional SCWCD Certification by Wrox and SCWCD Study Kit by Manning are the two good books for the exam. Both have been through the Giveaway at this place and have been reviewed by many people at this forum. They have received a really good feedback.
I personally have strong liking for Wrox publications and knowing that this book is by famous Professional Servlets Author, I went for it.
No idea about Que but Sybex has definitely received a lot of criticism although it is Authored by very famous author in the same domain. Probably it is the hurry of launching the book made them loose. Quite possible they soon come up with new version which is errata free.
All the best
George

I suggest that you look at SCWCD Exam Study Kit by Hanumant Deshmukh and Jignesh Malavia published by Manning. ISBN 1-930110-59-6. I have been studying for the SCWCD using this book as a study guide. Each chapter contains topics directly related to the exam's objectives. There are book quizes and quizlets though out the book. The CD which comes with this book contains 3 online practice exams.

It is my pleasure hearing from the author of one of my best books (Professional Servelts). Sam, I've already passed SCWCD and I am moving for further certifications like WebLogic, SCEA and Java web components are equally important there. Also I've a passion for JSP and Servlets and I am alwayz looking for good resources.
Your new book has also impressed me. Great job done, as expected!!!
Which is the next book by you?
Happy New Year to all of you
George

I want to thank everyone who advised the Manning book, and warned about the Sybex book (not only in this thread, but in other threads as well). If I hadn't gotten these warnings, I would have bought the Sybex book, assuming it was good (I used it for SCJP2, and it was good). I ended up buying the Manning book.
