What is the expiry period of SCWCD exam? I passed SCJP2 in Dec. last year, that time I was under the impression that Sun Certifications are valid for lifetime, but this is not true, within a month I received the Certificate. It was clearly mentioned on the Cert. And that card that the Cert will expire on Dec. 2004.

Hi,
As far as I know, Sun have recently imposed that two year rule on all their exams. I think it's in an effort to force people to do update exams for newer versions of Java/J2EE.
I don't think though that they want to stop people saying they have SCJP2, just qualify it with the version of Java that you are certified on, SCJP2 1.4 etc.,
Cheers,
Kem

yup -- 2 years -- check out the SUN RECERTIFICATION POLICY

How long is my certification title valid?
Unless otherwise stated, and beginning with all Sun Certification exams taken after September 1, 2002, certification offerings from Sun Services are valid for two (2) years from the date of certification. Despite the two-year validity date, Sun does not presently plan to revoke certification titles already held by a professional if the validity date of a specific certification has passed. The validity date serves as a flag for certificate holders to plan their professional growth, and for Sun to communicate with the holders about opportunities to recertify efficiently and cost effectively. Sun may maintain multiple versions of any certification title to meet varying global demand for title versions and to offer IT professionals flexible certification options. Sun reserves the right to retire specific Sun certification exams or titles for any reason and at any time. Sun's recertification policy and program are subject to change without notice.

Seems like the new emphasis on expiration is a good thing and will help Sun certs exhibit/maintain value in the industry.
