I am following the steps to run the case study in the book called "Professional SCWCD Certification" - WROX. I have modified the server.xml (Tomcat\conf\) according to the steps to instruct Tomcat to look in the SQL server database for users and associated roles. I have executed the scripts to have the required tables in the database (i.e. roles), the casestudy web.xml file is good, and I have created and ODBC link. I have a security problem when running the case study and when I check the log file all roles as listed in the web.xml file have the following warning:
WARNING: Security role name user used in an <auth-constraint> without being defined in a <security-role>
I have tried to resolve but not successful...can someone provide some assistance?
Thanks

You need to mention the role in the "<security-role>" before you can use it. like-
<security-role>
<description>
Manager for the IT Staff
</description>
<role-name>manager</role-name>
</security-role>
Please check your "<auth-constraint>" in web.xml to make sure the value mentioned there should be mentioned in "<security-role>".
