I'm going through the Wrox SCWCD book (great book, BTW). Chapter 15 touches on filters. It says that filters are not presently on the exam. Is that still the case? Are filters touched on in any way in the exam?
I'll dig into Chapter 15 for work-related filter initiatives in the near future, but will perhaps forego it while studying hard for the SCWCD -- I've scheduled an aggressive exam date and need to study briskly.
The presence of Chapter 15 in Wrox and the link to a filters paper on the SCWCD resource links presented by Java Ranch leave me wondering if filters have been added into the test these days.

nope, no filters in the current SCWCD exam (CX-310-080).
Check out the offical objectives on Sun's site to prove it to yourself:

already have. looking to cross t's and dot i's a couple of times.
Wrox refers to filters as being "not directly relevant to the exam" (pg 375) which makes one wonder if they are indirectly relevant, and if skipping Chapter 15 could possibly result in a couple of missed questions.

Manning's SCWCD exam has a similar chapter and they introduce it a little more clearly by saying something about this is a new feature in the Servlet 2.3 spec and its not on the current exam but it MIGHT be on the next exam.
I promise you there was no mention of a filter on my exam, and that there will be none on yours. (Unless of course you don't end up taking yours til the new exam comes out, and then all bets are off)
Its a good idea to know about Filters for your job.... but no need to study it BEFORE the exam, worry about the stuff that'll actually be covered

Thanks, Jessica. I'll definitely dig into filter-related items in coming weeks, but will put that off til after the exam.
