I first found this wonderful website and associated forums over a year ago when studying for the SCJP2 exam. I believe the advice I received from Javaranch was a huge part of my passing the exam.
Now I'm back to begin studying for SCWCD. I just picked up the Deshmukh book on your recommendation.
I am currently working as a java/web developer supporting a Struts based application and I'm in over my head. So I decided I need a better handle on the J2EE stuff (JSPs, Servlets, Struts, EJBs, etc). I figured a great start would be to learn the topics needed for the SCWCD test and kill two birds w/ one stone!
So, I hope you'll all be patient w/ my potentially basic questions. And once again, I'm happy to have this group to work w/ as I head towards certification.

Good luck with your studying/exam. I found this exam a little easier then the SCJP. You've got the right book. Be sure to check the book website, since there are quite a few alterations that may not be reflected in your copy.

I'd say that if you can get 80% or more in each of the 3 practice tests that come with the book, then you should be fine in the real exam. I got 81,81,86 in those tests then 91 in the exam.
Also there's a further 4 practice exams at the JwebPlus website http://www.enthuware.com/jwebplus
although you have to pay for these (I didn't bother with these because I only found out about them the night before my exam).

I found the JwebPlus product well worth the price, as it enabled me to design mock exams with questions focussed on my weakest topics, then on particularly difficult questions. It probably cut a week or more off my preparation time.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
