Have you taken the 3 practice exams coming with the book (or any mock exams for that matter)?

Now, this comes to exam psychology which is a highly personal issue, and I respect your point of view. However, might it be helpful if you took at least the first one of the three exam? It may help build your confidence if you do well! Also, it will definitely help you find out what are your strengths and weaknesses. If for instance, you do well on (say) design patterns but poor on (say) tag libraries then you will know that you have to spend a higher proportion of your time on the latter.
This way you will be able to gauge your progress, and keep the last exams for the end when you will be readier.
Just my $0.02...
Panagiotis.

I agree with taking the first test. To get more feeling for the subject I would suggest to try and set up your own demo mini web application with Tomcat.
