Hi Everyone!
I am in the process to start working on updating the Sun Certified Web Component Developer for the Java 2 Platform exam to the lastest J2EE version.
The current phase of development for the Sun Certified Web Component Developer for J2EE certification is a survey, called a blueprint, this helps me weigh the testing objectives. The survey will help me focus our test development on areas most critical to the job role.
If you are interested in participating, PLEASE send an email to
survalias@central.sun.com. Please put in the email subject line: SCWCD 1.4
Blueprint Survey.
Name:
Email:
Country:
Experience:
Prometric ID (if applicable):
(ex: SP1171160)
Certifications: SCJP (any version)

Please note to participate you have to be a certified as a Sun Certified
Programmer for the Java 2 Platform (any version).
I only need 60-100 participants for this survey. I will only respond to the first 100.
Thank you.
Evelyn Cartagena
Java Certification Program Manager
++++For completing/filling out this survey, I will send you a FREE VOUCHER to take the Web Component Developer for J2EE beta test in January. This beta will count towards the NEW Web Component Developer for J2EE certification.++++

Is this for real? ie, is it a scam? How can I verify aside from the email address being from sun.com?

I don't think this could possibly be a scam. I already have received a reply from Evelyn from her Sun email account about this survey. I know she's genuine because she was also running the recent Sun Certified Business Component Developer beta test. I passed that exam and have the certificate to prove it.
But if you don't believe me either...

I sent back my response in 20 minutes after the initial information had been posted. But I am still wondering whether it is possible that 100 people are more quicker than me...

Hi Everyone,
I sent out the survey on Tuesday morning. I sent it to the first 100 applicants I received.
If you have not received a voucher and I sent you back an email saying I will, please let me know.
If I did not respond to you, don't worry, I have you on a waiting list for the beta.
Also, the tool was being updated yesterday, it should be up and running.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Email me directly at evelyn.cartagena@sun.com
Thanks.
Evelyn

Hi Evelyn,
I received the survey from you, when i finished filling the first section and clicked on submit button, my session expired, i logged in again and started filling the survey again and when i reached the 4th section due to internet connectivity problem again i lost it once more.
But when i login again i get the message that "The system has retrieved your survey from a previous session. You cannot take the survey twice, but you may continue (by selecting "OK" below) to edit your survey.
"
It does not give the values which i entered when i last attempted that survey, so do i have to start all over again and its written that survey cannot be given twice. Is it that, attempting the survey again makes that entry invalid for consideration.

But, I checked your previous mail, which says,

The beta for the Web Component Developer 1.4 version will be from
January 19 - February 5. I will be sending out vouchers the first week of
January.

Is it possible a little typo, or anyone has recieved voucher? Please let me know, thanks.

If you are behind a firewall you may have problems accessing the site. I could not get to the survey from work, but had no problem from home.
Good luck!

From Evelyn's mail, it seems that the beta exam will be hold on Jan 19 - Feb 5.
And the vouchers will be delivered in the first week of Jan.
Therefore, we will have around 2 weeks time for preparation.
However, will it be better to have the voucher and exam objective a bit earlier?

Sun has a brand-new J2EE 1.4 Tutorial that you can access or download (in pdf or html). So, why wait until you have the voucher? You can start preparing today!
Good luck to everyone taking the beta!!!

Jeff,
That might be the reason. I tried to take the survey from work. Infact i tried with IE and Netscape as well. But anyway, Evelyn told me that she/he can give me the voucher as i had problems taking the survey. Thanks for your reply though..

Suchi, may I ask you to change your display name to include a last name? Our naming policy allows the use of initials only for the first name, not the last name.
Thanks.
