I am thinking about taking the SCWCD in the near future instead of waiting for the new exam to be released. However, I am wondering how much the value of the certification will diminish when the new exam is released.
Any thoughts?

1. According to new Sun certification rules, if you pass certification for particular test, you have this certification FOREVER. So, once you pass test for current version SCWCD, it will not expire.
2. I'm not sure about your experience, but I suppose you don't use new JSP 2.0 and Servlet 2.4 features yet. So, to have NEW test you need additional efforts to learn more.
