Hi Java Ranchers!
Need a bit of advice. I received my SCJP 1.2 Cert a couple of years ago. I want to pursue additional certs. Should I go ahead and get the upgrade cert or should I devote my efforts to SCWCD?
Also, if anyone suggests the upgrade, what book do you recommend that is related to strictly the upgrade?
If anyone suggests the SCWCD, what book is suggested?
Any and all advice will be much appreciated.
Cheers!
Blaine

Go for SCJD if you like design+programming very much;
And the others (SCBCD, SCWCD) are more like the test on memorization works.
Normally we follow the path like SCJP->SCWCD/SCBCD->SCJD/SCEA.
Of course, pls correct me if i just simply make the above assumption.
For study materials, you'll find lots of useful advices from this forum.
As you will find SCWCD-Exam-Study-Kit appears frequently...

Go for SCBCD - Head First EJB is the good enough for the text.
Your SCJP 1.2 is as good as any other SCJP out there. More so Java Certs do not carry expiration dates any more. SCWCD is being upgraded as we speak so there is no book on the upgrade. But if you insist on going for SCJP 1.4 you might just use the same book you used for the SCJP 1.2. There are just two additional topics which are assert, and (LinkedHashSet and LinkedHashMap). These you can read up in any book store; that was precisely what I did when I took the exam in august since I had a book which I bought years ago but was too lazy to take the exam by then. Also you do not have to bother about Frames and I/O.
Good luck,
anselm.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
