My personal opinion is that SCJD is a far more challenging. I believe it will make you a better developer. SCWCD to me, seems like a memory test on the servlet API. The downside of SCJD is that it will take you a lot longer and it will cost more. Tony

Thanks. Any opinions on which certificate employers value more?
It also depends on the situation of the industry of your residing country. You have to know the market. I mean its better, if u do some job hunt and see whether J2EE applications or Client-Server applications developers has more chance to get a job. But in general, demand on J2EE is higher than the Client-Server stuffs. In the country that I am currently residing, J2EE developers has more chance to get a job than Client-Server developers. Even though I was a die-hard fan of SWING, AWT, I/O and Networking stuffs, I have to jump into the world of J2EE to get a job... So it depends on u to deal with the trade-offs; which one u prefer and what the market wants I hope my suggestion might help u...

I believe that scwcd is more valuable if you want to work with web-based development. I haven't seen much use for the other cert IN BRAZIL, but I believe that this is a specific situation due to our current market evolution. Even if you dont go for the test, the knowledge of the developer exam is still valuable. HTH, Gus
