Hi all ,
Just came from the exam. It's not that difficult .If you already are SCWCD then the exam hasnt changed much except for the EL & JSTL part.My advice to Beta testers:
Do session management
Practice all possible combinations of EL
Some elements in web.xml
Life cycles(Detail)
Core JSTL tags
I referred the SCWCD Study kit,JSP2.0,J2EE 1.4 tutorial(some questions were direct copy-paste from the tutorial)
Will let you know more when I remember...

Thank you, Vedhas Pitkar. You are a nice guy, like many others!
More questions. Is there any API question, like Simple Tag API question?, any questions about .tld file? how about JSP event listener? Your help will be appreciated.

Hi Ali,

Is there any API question, like Simple Tag API question?

No. Unlike the old exam, the new exam tends to ask questions that are not too direct. Most Qs required us to understand the underlying concepts, rather than memerizing APIs.

any questions about .tld file? how about JSP event listener?

In my exam, only 1-2 Qs are about tld file. I think it is not the focus of the exam. Also, there are only a few Qs about listener, some of them are about the deployment descriptor, and require us to identify the correct listener for applications.
Nick.

hi Vedhas,
Thanks for your advice!
Do you think is it enought for the JSTL and EL parts of the exam, if I just study the JSTL and EL parts of J2EE 1.4 tutorial ?

I would say the tutorial is very good ... if you do not have a lot of time you should focus on it.
However I find myself need to refere to other books like Core JSTL and Pro JSP in order to gain a better understanding.

Hi all,
Regardng the J2EE tutorial read carefully the part which mentions of exceptions to the rule(get what I mean?)
Also Tag Files & Tag handlers(Simple & Custom) are tested thoroughly.Concentrate on them.

so would all of you who took the beta scwcd compare it with the scjp 1.4 exam? It seemed to test a whole lot of concepts at once and had alot of code samples etc. Is this similar to what the new scwcd exam is like...or at least the beta? I'm planning on taking it when it becomes available, but im not sure when that is.
if anyone has any ideas that would be great,
Thanks,
Dave
