Beta Experience

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi,
I took beta exam yesterday. It was very hard for me.I had to answer 163 Qs in 5 hours of time.I finsihed in 3.15 hours,as much of the stuff related to EL and JSTL in which am not confidant.
Qs related to servlets and jsps are easy.lot of tricky Qs on taglibs and HTTp security stuff..
I came to know that there is a beta exam just 3 days before and then I bought a book and prepared.I am not sure of the voucher too,but atlast I got the oucher and then I went for the test.
I just had 2 days time to prepare for this beta exam.I might not given the test if it isn't free.
The book by Deshmukh and Malavia is excellent. This is the only tool I prepared for 2 days, didn't even able to take any mock exams.I feel,if the author includes JSTL,tag files,EL and some more j2ee patterns in detail, then it will be the best 100% passing Book for the next web component developer exam.
thats all I have to say,
cheers,
visu

same here
i did not have time to prepare
but even if i did have, i would not have prepared for those things that were asked in the exam !
most of the questions were SYNTAX question
there is no point in remembering all those
unless u actually use an ejb/other resource from withing jsp, how does it matter if you know what is the actual tag name in web.xml , whether its ejb-ref of ejb-local-ref or resourece-ref or whatever!
and even if you actully use those things in your project also, you might not remember the syntax , even after doing so!
The point is, these questions do not really reflect your knowledge of j2ee in any way !
I was really disappointed to see such questions
I finished the exam in 2 and 1/2 hours only
I am still hopeful though
I tried to attend all the question as intuitively as i could !
Lets see what happens !

I agree with this comments, everybody will check those things in the document again to implement them in the real world... I guess none would waste their time on memorizing them...

The new exam has a great improvement already, I think.
When I took SCWCD 1.3 last year, most of the questions look like:

Which of the following APIs in the class/interface XXX can perform YYY tasks?

OR

Method ZZZ is defined in which of the following class?

While in the new exam, the questions have tried to be less memerizing stuffs.

She'll be back. I'm just gonna wait here. With this tiny ad:
